The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the Charlotte 49ers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Halton Arena. Middle Tennessee is 22-7 so far this year. The Raiders beat Western Kentucky in their last game. As for Charlotte, they’re sitting at 15-13 and coming off a loss to Florida Atlantic. Middle Tennessee was sitting at 9-6 back in early January, but they’ve only lost one game since then. The Blue Raiders are currently riding an eight-game win streak. They’ve beaten UTEP, Marshall and Western Kentucky in the last trio.
In the Western Kentucky game on Saturday, the Raiders posted a 39-30 advantage in the first half and a 30-22 run in the second on the way to a 69-52 win. Tops in scoring was Eli Lawrence on 15 points and three rebounds.
Over on the Charlotte side, they’ve had a choppy year so far but have managed to fend off the .500 mark for quite a while. The 49ers are 2-1 in their last trio; they took out Marshall and Florida International before a loss to Florida Atlantic.
On Saturday matched up against Florida Atlantic, the 49ers were up by two at halftime. Charlotte was outscored 35-42 from there in a 74-69 loss. Tops in scoring was Jahmir Young on 26 points with three rebounds and two assists.
The 49ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five versus a team with a winning straight-up record and the over is 7-1 in their last eight overall. The over is 4-0 in Charlotte’s last four after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 after an ATS win and 20-5-2 ATS in their last 27 overall. The under is 4-1 in Middle Tennessee’s last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Middle Tennessee. The Raiders have been on an impressive run since early January, and they’re routinely scoring well. Middle Tennessee has hit 69 or more points in 10 of the last 11 games and should drop a healthy total here also.
