Montana State vs Northern Colorado 3/5/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northern Colorado Bears and the Montana State Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Worthington Arena. Northern Colorado is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Montana. In that game, the Bears won by nine points. As for Montana State, they’re fresh off a game against Sacramento State on Thursday. The Bobcats ended up winning by six. Northern Colorado fell to Portland State in consecutive games to start out February, but the team finished off the month well on a 7-2 run. The wins in that time came versus Northern Arizona (twice), Sac State, Southern Utah, Weber State, Idaho State and Idaho. 

On Thursday versus Montana, the Bears scored 34 points in the first half. Northern Colorado hit a 41-39 run in the second on the way to a 75-66 win. Daylen Kountz was the top scorer on 29 points and four rebounds in the victory. 

Over on the Montana State side, they started off the year on a sketchy 1-3 run but haven’t lost consecutive outings since then. The Bobcats were on a 2-2 run going into the Sac State games, losing to Eastern Washington and Montana in that quartet. 

Matched up against Sacramento State on Thursday, the Bobcats trailed 32-38 going into the second half. Montana State scored 43 points on the way to a 75-69 comeback win. Xavier Bishop led the way on 18 points and seven assists. 

The Bobcats are 1-5 ATS in their last six at home and 5-2 ATS in the last seven Saturday games. Montana State is 2-5 ATS in the last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 34-16-1 ATS in the last 51 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. The over is 18-6 in Northern Colorado’s last 24 overall. 

PICK: I’m going to try Northern Colorado here. I could probably go either way on this one, though; it should be a great matchup. That said, the Bears have been scoring well over this 4-1 stretch; they’ve hit 75 or more points in each game. Montana State has hit 69 or more points in 13 straight games themselves, so we should have a high total here. 

These teams last saw each other way back on December 2 in a 77-75 overtime win at home for Northern Colorado. This one should be a competitive affair as well, and I think the Bears can power out a cover.
