Arkansas State vs Mississippi Valley State 12/1/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils and the Arkansas State Red Wolves meet Thursday in college basketball action from ASU Convocation Center. Mississippi Valley State comes into this matchup at 1-7 overall. The Delta Devils lost to Colorado State in their last game. MS Valley State went 0-4 in their first quartet this year, losing to Baylor, Hawaii, Yale and Eastern Washington. After a win over North Alabama, the Delta Devils fell to Missouri and Air Force in the next pair. 

Back on Saturday, MS Valley State matched up against Colorado State. The Delta Devils weren’t in it for long, scoring just 20 points in the first half during an 88-45 loss. Terry Collins led the team on 19 points. 

Over on the Arkansas State side, they went 2-2 over their first four games this year. The wins were versus Harding and Lyon; the losses came versus LSU and UC Davis. The RedWolves would then beat TN-Martin and fall to Prairie View A&M. 

Back on Sunday versus Bethel (TN), the Red Wolves didn’t have too many problems. Arkansas State hit a 44-27 halftime edge and cruised to the 90-65 win. Malcolm Farrington led the way on 18 points, and Markise Davis had 15 points. 

PICK: I’m probably still staying with Arkansas State. There’s not a lot to get excited about here, though. The Red Wolves have experienced sizable losses in most of their comparable matchups so far this year (with the exception of the TN-Martin win) and they’re not scoring so well against competitive teams. The Red Wolves have been at 60 points or below in each of their three losses. That said, Arkansas State should be able to handle the Delta Devils here; MS Valley State hasn’t scored more than 62 points in seven of their eight games so far.
