The Davidson Wildcats and the Dayton Flyers meet in college basketball action from the Belk Arena on Saturday.
The Davidson Wildcats will look to build on their current four-game win streak after a 69-57 win over Duquesne last time out. Foster Loyer leads the Wildcats in scoring and assists with 17.4 PPG and 5.4 APG in addition to 4.8 RPG while Sam Mennenga has 15.5 PPG and a team-high 7.4 RPG to lead Davidson in rebounding as the only other double-digit scorer for Davidson up to this point in the season. As a team, Davidson is averaging 72.8 PPG on 44.7% shooting from the field, 34% from three and 72.7% from the foul line up to this point in the year.
The Dayton Flyers will look to build on a 57-43 win over Fordham last time out. DaRon Holmes II leads the Flyers in scoring with 18 PPG along with 8.1 RPG while Mustapha Amzil has 10.8 PPG with 4.9 RPG and Toumani Camara also has 11.3 PPG and a team-high 9.5 PPG to lead the Flyers on the glass and Kobe Elvis has 10.1 PPG also to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Dayton up to this point in the season. Mike Sharavjamts also has a team-high 3.1 APG as well this season. As a team, Dayton is averaging 67 points per game on 45.2% shooting from the field, 29.6% from three and 68.9% from the foul line this season.
Davidson is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a win. Dayton is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
I get the case to be made for either side in this one, but I’m leaning towards Davidson mainly because I still don’t trust Dayton. I know it’s a talented Flyers team but I think that Davidson’s played the better basketball and the line reflects that. I’ll side with Davidson to pick up the win and cover here.
