Duquesne vs Indiana State 12/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Indiana State Sycamores and the Duquesne Dukes meet Saturday in college basketball action from Palumbo Center. Indiana State comes into this matchup at 9-2 overall. The Sycamores lost to Southern Indiana in their last game. As for Duquesne, they’re 8-3 this season and coming off a win over DePaul. Indiana State won four straight games to kick off the year before falling to UMKC on November 22. The Sycamores then beat Drexel, Trinity Christian, Drake, Miami-OH and Southern Illinois before another loss to Southern Indiana. 

In the Southern Indiana game, the Sycamores scored 41 second-half points to force overtime but couldn’t make the comeback in an 88-85 loss. Courvoisier McCauley led the way on 23 options and six rebounds. 

Over on the Duquesne side, they’ve got losses to Kentucky, Marshall and New Mexico State so far. Otherwise the wins have come versus Montana, SC State, Colgate, North Florida, Alabama State, UCSB, Ball State and DePaul. 

Matched up against DePaul on Wednesday, the Dukes posted a 34-21 advantage in the first half. Duquesne was able to hang on from there and secured a 66-55 win. Both Joe Reece and Dae Dae Grant posted 15 points apiece. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Indiana State. This should be a pretty good matchup regardless, though. The Sycamores are coming off a tough loss to a Southern Indiana team they probably should have beaten. Indiana State has played well over this 5-1 stretch however, hitting 74 or more points in all five wins. As for Duquesne, they’re coming off a pretty nice win themselves but they’ve also allowed 73 or more points in three of their last four games. Indiana State should have some room in this one.
