Nevada vs Akron 11/23/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Akron Zips and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet in college basketball action from the John Gray Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

The Akron Zips will look to rebound from a 73-58 loss to LSU in their last game. Xavier Castaneda leads the Zips in scoring and assists with 22.2 PPG along with 4.4 APG as well as 4.2 RPG this season and Enrique Freeman leads the Zips on the glass, averaging a double-double per game with 14 PPG and 10.2 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Akron up to this point in the season. As a team, Akron is averaging 66 points per game on 38.8% shooting from the field, 30.8% from behind the three point line and 66.7% from the foul line this season.

The Nevada Wolf Pack will try to bounce back after a 96-87 overtime loss to Kansas State last time out. Jarod Lucas leads the Wolf Pack in scoring with 17.5 PPG while Kenan Blackshear has 12.7 PPG with team-highs of 6.8 RPG and 6.8 APG to lead the Wolf Pack in rebounding and assists up to this point in the season. Will Baker also has 11.8 PPG with 4.6 RPG to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Nevada so far this year while Darrion Williams has 9.2 PPG and 6.8 RPG of his own so far this year. As a team,, Nevada is averaging 77.5 points per game on 45.9% shooting from the field, 36.8% from behind the three point line and 76.5% from the foul line this season.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m leaning towards Nevada here. I don’t love this Nevada team  but there’s no denying that right now they’re playing the better basketball side-by-side against Akron and while I like the Zips, they just need to show me more before I comfortably put my hard-earned money on them. Give me Nevada here.
