UC San Diego vs California 11/15/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The California Golden Bears and the UC San Diego Tritons meet Tuesday in college basketball action from LionTree Arena. California is 0-2 so far this year and coming off a Friday loss to Kansas State. As for UC San Diego, they’re also 0-2 after falling to Sacramento State in their most recent game. California had trouble with UC Davis in their opener last Monday. The Bears were down 41-36 by halftime and ended up with a 75-65 loss. Devin Askew was the top team scorer with 19 points, four assists and three rebounds. 

In game two versus Kansas State it was more of the same for California. Following a 36-21 halftime deficit, the Golden Bears posted a 63-54 loss. Askew again led the team with 17 points, and Kuany Kuany chipped in 13 points. 

Over on the UC San Diego side, their year kicked off with a game versus Seattle. The Tritons were down 42-29 at the break and tumbled to an 85-71 defeat. Bryce Pope was the lead team scorer with 23 points, and Emmanuel Tshimanga added 15 more points. 

The Tritons took on Sacramento State in game two. After a 29-24 deficit at the break, UC San Diego failed to make the comeback and lost 65-55. Pope led the way again on 17 points, while J’Raan Brooks posted 11 points with five boards. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on California. Probably not going near this one, though; both teams have gotten off to rough starts. In any case, the Bears shot a reasonable 40.4 percent versus Kansas State in their last game, but also went just 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) with 22 turnovers on the way to the loss. UC San Diego hasn’t quite found their rhythm on either side of the ball either, so this is a great spot for California to get their first win/cover.
