Vermont vs Iona 11/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Iona Gaels and the Vermont Catamounts meet Friday in college basketball action from Mohegan Sun Arena. Iona is 1-1 on the season so far. The Gaels lost to Hofstra in their last game. Iona began their season with a November 7 matchup versus Penn. The Gaels scored 34 points in the first half and 44 more after the break during a 78-50 victory. Leading scorer Daniss Jenkins posted 19 points, and Nelly Junior Joseph doubled with 13 points and 10 boards. 

In game two versus Hofstra, Iona was within three points at the break. The Gaels couldn’t get any closer than that by game’s end and lost 83-78. Quinn Slazinski notched a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards, while Joseph put up 17 points and nine rebounds. 

Over on the Catamounts’ side, they started out the year with a matchup versus Brown. Vermont didn’t have too many issues in that one and won 80-65. The Catamounts would lose their next pair, 79-53 to Saint Mary’s and 94-85 to CSU Fullerton. 

On Tuesday versus USC, the Catamounts jumped out to a 27-22 lead going into the second half. Vermont faded from there and lost a tough one 59-57. Finn Sullivan was the lead scorer on the team with 17 points and six rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Iona, but probably not touching it. The Gaels did a good show shooting in their last game versus Hofstra with 47.8 percent from the field. Iona also had 39 rebounds and 17 assists but couldn’t keep up with a hot-shooting Pride team. As for Vermont, they shot a tepid 36.8 percent in the USC loss and were out-rebounded 40-32. All things considered I think Iona can keep a cover pace here. Should be an interesting matchup.
