Virginia Tech vs Lehigh 11/10/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Virginia Tech Hokies meet Thursday in college basketball action from Cassell Coliseum. Lehigh is coming off their first game of the year, a loss to Syracuse. Lehigh had an underwhelming year in 2021-22, going 13-19 overall with a 10-8 record in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks finished in fourth place with that effort, landing behind Colgate, Navy and Boston University in the standings. 

In their first action of the year back on Monday, the Mountain Hawks matched up with Syracuse. Lehigh was down 44-26 by halftime and limped to a 90-72 result. Evan Taylor was the only double-digit scorer on the team with 20 points and three boards. 

Over on the Virginia Tech side, they managed a 23-13 overall record with a 11-9 ACC mark last year. The Hokies won the ACC Tournament in a dramatic run, but didn’t fare well in the national tourney. Virginia Tech fell to Texas in the First Round. 

The Hokies got off to a good start in their first game of the year Monday versus Delaware State. Virginia Tech jumped out to a 56-31 halftime lead and cruised from there to a 95-57 result. Grant Basile led the team on a double-double with 30 points and 10 boards.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Virginia Tech. The Hokies didn’t have much trouble with Delaware State, shooting 55.0 percent from the field and 50 percent (14-of-28) from 3-point range alongside 42 rebounds and 18 assists during the win. Lehigh shouldn’t prove to be too much trouble; the Mountain Hawks were out-rebounded 39-26 in their matchup versus Syracuse and didn’t play particularly well in the first half.
