Western Michigan vs Georgia Southern 11/20/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Western Michigan Broncos meet Sunday in college basketball action from Tudor Fieldhouse. Georgia Southern is coming off a Saturday matchup versus Houston Baptist. In that one the Eagles managed a seven-point win. As for Western Michigan, they played Rice in their Saturday outing. The Broncos would go on to lose by eight. Georgia Southern kicked off the year with a pair of losses. Those came 63-48 versus San Jose State and 78-62 against Santa Clara. The Eagles won versus Trinity Baptist College 53-32, but lost 88-71 versus Rice on Friday. 

In Saturday’s game against Houston Baptist, the Eagles posted a 47-28 edge by the break. Georgia Southern was outpaced 49-37 from there but hung on for an 84-77 win. Andrei Savrasov posted 15 points with two steals in the victory to lead the scoring. 

Over on the Western Michigan side, they took a tough 61-60 loss to Minnesota in their opener. The Broncos beat Goshen 99-62 in game two, then lost to Valparaiso 81-65. Western Michigan then took out Houston Baptist 90-84. 

Matched up against Rice on Saturday, Western Michigan had a 41-41 tie at the break but gave up 55 points in the second half for a 96-88 defeat. Lamar Norman led the team with 30 points, and Jefferson Monegro added 21 points with three assists. 

PICK: I’m going with Western Michigan. Probably staying away in this one, though. The Broncos lost in a shootout Saturday despite hitting 56.7 percent from the floor and 40.9 (9-of-22) from 3-point range. Western Michigan was lax in many defensive metrics (16-6 on turnovers) despite a 38-24 rebounding advantage. 

As for Georgia Southern, they shot a nice 62.5 percent from the field but didn’t really have a great effort otherwise in the Saturday game. I don’t think the Eagles will keep it going on a cover here, but it’ll be interesting.
