Dayton began the year with a matchup versus Lindenwood. The Flyers rolled in that one, taking a 73-46 win. Dayton beat SMU 74-62 in their next game, then fell to UNLV 60-52. The Flyers bounced back against Robert Morris on Saturday, though.
In the Robert Morris matchup, Dayton had a nine-point edge going into the break. The Flyers kept the pace from there, notching a 60-51 win. DaRon Holmes notched 18 points, and Toumani Camara added 11 points with 14 rebounds.
Over on the Wisconsin side, they’ve only played three games so far but the results have been good. The Badgers took out South Dakota 85-59 in their opener. Game two was another win, this time 60-50 over Stanford.
In game three last Tuesday versus Green Bay, Wisconsin managed a 32-15 halftime edge. The Badgers were outscored 30-24 from there but ended up with a 56-45 win. Jordan Davis put up 11 points with three rebounds to lead the scoring.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Dayton. The Flyers managed a pretty solid showing in the Robert Morris game, shooting 42.1 percent from the floor with a 40-37 rebounding advantage (12-11 offensive) and 18 team assists. Dayton only has 112 combined points over their last two games, so a lower-scoring outcome here may be beneficial. As for Wisconsin, it’s been a while since we’ve seen them on the floor but they haven’t had too many difficulties so far. Should be a fun matchup.
