Indiana vs Northwestern 1/8/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northwestern Wildcats and the Indiana Hoosiers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Bloomington Assembly Hall. Northwestern comes into this one at 11-3 overall. Northwestern won five straight games to open the year, then fell to Auburn and Pittsburgh. The Wildcats would win another five straight games before another loss to Ohio State. After that came a win over Illinois on Wednesday. 

Matched up against the Illini, Northwestern took a 31-27 lead into the break. The Wildcats posted a 42-33 advantage from there and cruised to the win 73-60. Chase Audige put up 21 points to lead the team. 

Over on the Hoosiers’ side, they won their first seven games this year before a loss to Rutgers. The Hoosiers have gone 3-3 since then with wins over Nebraska, Elon and Kennesaw State alongside losses to Arizona, Kansas and Iowa. 

In the Iowa game on Thursday, the Hoosiers were up 50-40 at the break. Indiana was outscored 51-39 from there and lost 91-89. Tops in scoring was Trayce Jackson-Davis with 30 points and nine rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Northwestern. A bit of the luster has worn off this matchup with Indiana’s loss to Iowa on Thursday, but it should still be a great game between two familiar squads. Northwestern didn’t have too many issues dispatching Illinois in their last game. The Wildcats are 6-1 in their last seven outings with 70 or more points scored in four of those outings. As for Indiana, they had a bad second half against Iowa in their last game but should bounce back for a solid performance here. It’ll be a fun game to watch, and I like Northwestern to power out the cover.
