The New Orleans Privateers and the McNeese State Cowboys meet Wednesday in college basketball action from the Legacy Center. New Orleans sits at 10-18 overall this year. The Privateers beat Lamar in their last game. As for McNeese State, they’re 8-22 this season following a loss to Southeastern Louisiana. New Orleans Privateers

New Orleans didn’t start out great this year, hitting a 6-14 run over their first 20 outings. The Privateers are 4-4 since then with wins over Texas A&M-Commerce, Northwestern State, Nicholls State and Lamar in their last quartet.

On Saturday versus Lamar, the Privateers were up 50-44 by halftime. New Orleans scored another 34 points in the second and ended up with an 84-79 victory. Jamond Vincent led the way on 22 points and eight rebounds.

McNeese State Cowboys

Over on the McNeese State side, they stumbled to a rough 5-17 run in their first 22 games. The Cowboys have since gone 3-5 with losses to Lamar, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-CC, Houston Christian and Southeastern Louisiana in that time.

Matched up against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, the Cowboys blew a 34-22 halftime lead and had to go to overtime. The Lions were outscored 9-6 from there and lost 78-75. Johnathan Massie led the team with 24 points and nine rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably take a stab on New Orleans. Probably also not touching this one, though. There’s not a lot to get excited about here, but it should still be a competitive matchup. The Privateers have won four straight games, scoring 84 or more points in three of those and 68 or more points in five straight overall. New Orleans’ last loss came on February 11 versus McNeese State at Lakefront Arena. That one ended up a 79-78 finish featuring a 50-29 second-half deficit for the Privateers. New Orleans is going to have to play a complete game this time but I think they’re up for some revenge.
