The Wisconsin Badgers and the Oregon Ducks meet Tuesday in NIT college basketball action from Matthew Knight Arena. Wisconsin is 20-14 overall this year. The Badgers beat Liberty in their last game. As for Oregon, they’re 22-14 on the season and coming off a win over UCF on Sunday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin posted a 17-13 record over their regular season amid a tough Big Ten Conference. The Badgers had zero luck in the conference tournament, falling 65-57 to Ohio State. In the first installment of the NIT, Wisconsin bounced back with an 81-62 win over Bradley.

On Sunday versus Liberty, Wisconsin managed a 37-34 edge by halftime. The Badgers kept it up with a 38-37 run in the second for a 75-71 victory. Leading team scorer Chucky Hepburn put up 27 points with three rebounds, and Tyler Wahl added 16 points with six boards.

Oregon Ducks

Over on the Oregon side, their regular season ended up as an 18-13 run. The Ducks managed to beat Washington State 75-70 in the Pac-12 Tournament, but then fell to UCLA 75-56 in game two. Oregon would then beat UC Irvine 84-58 in the NIT opener.

Taking on UCF on Sunday, the Ducks managed a 33-24 first half. Oregon logged a 35-30 run from there and cruised to the win 68-54. Leading team scorer Nate Bittle doubled up on 21 points with 13 rebounds. Quincy Guerrier had 16 points with six rebounds as well.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Oregon in this one. The Ducks haven’t had too many issues in the first two games of this tournament, but there are a few things to clean up. Oregon shot a nice 48.9 percent from the field with a 40-31 rebounding advantage versus UCF. That said, the Ducks also went a tepid 5-of-19 from 3-point range (26.3 percent), posted 17-of-26 from the line (65.4 percent) and had 18 turnovers. As for Wisconsin, they shot 54 percent with 31 rebounds against Liberty but were ice cold from outside with just 1-of-15 (6.7 percent) on 3-pointers. The Badges have 71 or more points in three of their last four games so they should put up a decent total here. That said I don’t think they’ll quite keep pace with Oregon if the Ducks play to their capabilities.
