Penn State vs Michigan Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/29/23

The Michigan Wolverines and the Penn State Nittany Lions meet Sunday in college basketball action from Bryce Jordan Center. Michigan is currently 11-10 overall this year. The Wolverines lost to Purdue in their last game on Thursday. As for Penn State, they’re 13-7 on the season after a Tuesday loss to Rutgers. Michigan Wolverines 

Michigan started out the year at 9-7, losing to Arizona State, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Central Michigan, Michigan State and Iowa. The Wolverines are 2-2 since then with losses to Maryland and Purdue. 

Matched up against Purdue on Thursday, the Wolverines were down 41-35 by halftime. Michigan posted a 35-34 run in the second half but couldn’t come back in a 75-70 loss. Hunter Dickinson topped the team on 21 points and seven rebounds. 

Penn State Nittany Lions 

Over on the Penn State side, they lost to Virginia Tech, Clemson, Michigan State, Michigan and Purdue in their first 16 outings. The Nittany Lions are 2-2 in their last four as well, with losses to Wisconsin and Rutgers. 

In the Rutgers matchup on Tuesday, the Nittany Lions were down 32-24 going into the second half. Penn State got worse from there on a 33-21 deficit and lost 65-45. Jalen Pickett was the high man on 15 points and eight boards. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to go with Penn State. We should have a pretty interesting matchup here, though. The Nittany Lions took a loss 79-69 when these teams last met up on January 4 at Crisler Center. Penn State was outscored 42-34 in the first half in that one and didn’t end up getting any closer. The Nittany Lions are going to have to kick up the offense in this one; they’ve got 63 or fewer points in three of the five games since that Michigan matchup. The Wolverines should provide a solid test, but I think Penn State can pull it out.
