Rutgers vs Penn State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/24/23

The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights meet Tuesday in college basketball action from the RAC. Penn State is 13-6 overall this year. The Lions beat Nebraska in their last game. Penn State Nittany Lions 

Penn State managed to go 11-3 through 14 games this year, losing to only Virginia Tech, Clemson and Michigan State. The Nittany Lions are 2-3 since then with losses to Michigan, Purdue and Wisconsin. 

In the Nebraska game back on Saturday, Penn State got back into the win column. The Lions posted 29 points in the first half and 47 in the second for a 76-65 win. Andrew Funk led the way on 23 points with two rebounds. 

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Over on the Rutgers side, they lost four of their first 14 games versus Temple, Miami-FL, Ohio State and Seton Hall. The Knights have since gone 3-2 with wins over Maryland, Northwestern and Ohio State. 

On Thursday matched up against Michigan State, the Knights trailed 36-30 at the break. Rutgers posted a 34-27 deficit in the second for a 70-57 defeat. Clifford Omoruyi managed to double up on 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with Penn State. You could make a case either way here, though; it should be a fun matchup. The Nittany Lions looked pretty good against an average (by Big Ten standards) Nebraska team on Saturday. It was a nice bounce-back from a three-point road loss to Wisconsin last Tuesday. As for Rutgers, they’ve been erratic over their last five games as well and struggled finding a rhythm against Michigan State. All things considered, if Penn State can get up around 70 points in this one I think they’ll be fine cover-wise. Should be a great matchup regardless.
