Texas vs Baylor Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/30/23

The Baylor Bears and the Texas Longhorns meet Monday in college basketball action from Moody Center. Baylor is currently 16-5 following a win over Arkansas on Saturday. Baylor Bears

Baylor began the year at 11-5 through 16 games, with losses to Virginia, Marquette, Iowa State, TCU and Kansas State. The Bears have since beaten Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. 

In the Arkansas game on Saturday, the Bears were down 33-27 by halftime. Baylor fought back on a 40-31 second-half run and got the win 67-64. Keyonte George was tops on 24 points, and LJ Cryer added 20 points.

Texas Longhorns

Over on the Texas side, they were 14-2 after 16 games this year with losses to only Illinois and Kansas State. The Longhorns are 3-2 in their last five games with wins over Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and West Virginia. 

Matched up against Tennessee on Saturday, the Longhorns were outscored 40-28 in the first half. Texas got slightly better with 43 second-half points but still lost the game 82-71. Jabari Rice was the scoring leader on 21 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stake a stab on Baylor here. You could make a case either way, though; this should be one of the better games of the Monday college basketball slate. Baylor got off to a bit of a slow start in their last game versus Arkansas, but to their credit the Bears finished off with a solid comeback win. Baylor has scored 67 or more points in seven of their last eight games and should post a decent total here if they can find a rhythm. As for Texas, they’re a tepid 2-2 over their last four games and are currently embroiled in a stretch of four straight ranked opponents. This one’s going to be another tough matchup, and I like both teams to remain competitive for the whole game.
