Utah vs USC Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/25/23

The USC Trojans and the Utah Utes meet Saturday in college basketball action from Jon M. Huntsman Center. USC is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus Colorado. In that one the Trojans took a 19-point victory. As for Utah, they played UCLA in their Thursday game. The Utes ended up falling by seven points there. USC Trojans

The Trojans’ season kicked off on a 14-6 stretch over the first 20 games. In the next seven outings USC hit a 5-2 record. The wins in that time came versus ULCA, Washington State, Washington, California and Stanford with losses to Oregon and Oregon State. 

On Thursday versus Colorado, the Trojans jumped out to a 43-30 lead by the break. In the second USC hit a 41-35 run and took the win 84-65. Boogie Ellis led the team on 21 points while both Kobe Johnson and Reese Waters scored 15 apiece. 

Utah Utes

Over on the Utes’ side, they managed a 13-7 record over their first 20 outings this year. Utah logged a 4-4 stretch in the next eight, beating Washington, Oregon State, California and Colorado with losses to Oregon, Stanford, Arizona and Arizona State. 

Matched up against UCLA in the Thursday game, the Utes were outscored 43-31 by halftime. Utah got better on a 40-35 run from there but still lost 78-71. Mike Saunders was the top team scorer with his 25 points and three rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with USC in this one. The Trojans are on a solid three-game win streak right now with 84 or more points scored in each of those outings. USC didn’t have too much trouble the last time these teams met up back on January 14 at Galen Center. The Trojans won 71-56 in that one thanks to a 32-22 second half. USC will need to get off to a better start in this road rematch, but I think they’re more than capable of powering out a cover (or even a win) here.
