Wagner vs Sacred Heart Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/22/23

Sacred Heart Pioneers 

Sacred Heart was 6-8 after 14 games this year, beating Hartford, Columbia, Binghamton, Western New England, New Hampshire and Holy Cross. The Pioneers are 5-2 since then with wins over St. Francis PA and FDU in their last pair. 

Matched up against Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, the Pioneers were down 37-30 at the break. Sacred Heart surged from there on a 62-48 run and took the win 92-85. Joey Reilly scored 29 points and Bryce Johnson doubled on 14 points and 11 boards. 

Wagner Seahawks

Over on the Wagner side, they lost to La Salle, Seton Hall, Army, Fordham, Merrimack and Stonehill in their first 14 games. The Seahawks are 2-1 since then with wins over Merrimack and Central CT State. 

On Friday versus the Blue Devils, Wagner was up 28-16 going into the second half. The Seahawks hit a 44-34 run from there and won it 72-50. Rob Taylor was the top scorer on 17 points and four rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m probably sticking with Sacred Heart. The Pioneers have been playing pretty well over the last six games, and they’ve hit 78 or more points in four of those outings. Sacred Heart does have a few offensive duds here and there, however if they can get into the 70s in this one I think they’ll be okay cover-wise. Wagner hasn’t been scoring great lately themselves and likely wouldn’t be able to keep the cover pace in a shootout. Should be a close game, though.
