Wisconsin vs Penn State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/17/23

The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Wisconsin Badgers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Kohl Center. Penn State is currently 12-5 overall. The Lions beat Indiana in their last game. Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State hit a 9-3 run over their first 12 games, losing to only Virginia Tech, Clemson and Michigan State. The Lions are 3-2 in their last five outings, beating Delaware State, Iowa and Indiana along the way. 

Last Wednesday versus Indiana, Penn State took a 37-26 edge into the second half. The Lions hit a 48-40 run from there and won it 85-66. Seth Lundy led the way on 25 points and Andrew Funk added 23 points with four boards. 

Wisconsin Badgers 

Over on the Wisconsin side, they lost just two of their first 14 games versus Kansas and Wake Forest. The Badgers are currently riding a three-game losing streak, falling to Illinois, Michigan State and Indiana. 

In the Saturday game versus Indiana, the Badgers were down 21-20 at the break. Wisconsin was drilled 42-25 in the second half and lost 63-45. Connor Essegian doubled up in the loss with 14 points and 11 rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to try Penn State in this one. The Nittany Lions didn’t have too much trouble with a tricky Indiana team in their last outing; it was a nice bounce-back after consecutive losses to Michigan and Purdue. Penn State has hit 69 or more points in three of the last four games, however it wouldn’t be surprising to see a defense-heavy matchup here. As for Wisconsin, they had a pretty dismal second half against Indiana, and the team hasn’t hit 70 points in four straight outings. This one could go a lot of different ways, but cover-wise I’m leaning Penn State in a competitive matchup.
