The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats and the Air Force Falcons meet Sunday in college basketball action from Ocean Center. Bethune-Cookman enters this one at 1-3 on the year. Bethune-Cookman hit the skids in their first three outings this year. The Wildcats lost to South Florida 75-54 in their opener, then fell big to Middle Tennessee 71-51 in game two. Game three was another loss, this time 86-55 to Utah.
The Wildcats finally got a victory in their Saturday game versus Bryant. Bethune-Cookman scored 45 points in the second half on the way to a nice 81-75 win. Leading the way was Dylan Robertson with 21 points and four rebounds.
Over on the Air Force side, their first game of the year turned out to be a loss, 59-53 against South Dakota. The Falcons were able to bounce back in their next pair, beating Tulsa 59-58 and Texas Southern 61-57 to move to 2-1 on the year.
Air Force posted another nice win over Holy Cross in the Saturday game. The Falcons started slow with just 26 first-half points, but caught fire after halftime in a 72-53 win. AJ Walker did most of the work with his 27 points, six rebounds and four assists.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Air Force. Though the Falcons had a slim two-point lead at halftime in the Holy Cross game, they stepped it up after the break and shot 47.5 percent from the field for the game. Air Force was out-rebounded 41-25, but held the Crusaders to zero 3-pointers and just one assist.
As for B-CU, they managed a nice effort against Bryant on Saturday but it was the first time all year the Wildcats had scored more than 55 points. If Air Force gets going I don’t think B-CU will be able to keep up.
