Air Force vs New Mexico 2/5/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The New Mexico Lobos and the Air Force Falcons meet in college basketball action from the Clune Arena on Saturday night.

The New Mexico Lobos will look to rebound from a 72-47 road loss to San Diego State last time out. Jamal Mashburn Jr. leads the Lobos in scoring with 17.7 PPG while Jaelen House has 15.7 PPG with a team-high 5 APG, leading the Lobos in the assist department. KJ Jenkins has 10.9 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for New Mexico so far this season. As a team, New Mexico is averaging 75.8 PPG on 43.5% shooting from the field, 35% from three and 74.1% from the foul line while allowing 77.5 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field and 33% from three this season.

The Air Force Falcons will look to bounce back after a 73-46 loss to Utah State last time out. A.J. Walker leads the Falcons in scoring with 15.4 PPG as the lone double-digit scorer for the Falcons so far this season while Jake Heidbreder has 9.2 PPG and Ethan Taylor has 9.8 PPG with a team-high 5.4 RPG to lead the Falcons on the glass this season. Taylor also has a team-high 3.8 APG to lead Air Force in assists while Joseph Octave has 7.3 PPG as well on the year. As a team, Air Force is averaging 59.1 PPG on 44.5% shooting from the field, 35.5% from three and 63.2% from the foul line while allowing 62 PPG on 43.4% shooting from the field and 28.1% from three this season.

I get why you could look the way of the Lobos here as New Mexico’s been the team with more potential offensively on any given night. However, the Lobos have also struggled to get those points on the board as of late and while Air Force hasn’t been all that great this season, they’ve battled the good teams hard and kept the lesser teams in check. The under could be a good play here, but I’m leaning towards Air Force laying the points at home here.
