The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Alabama A&M Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Elmore Gymnasium.
Prairie View A&M enters this one at 10-4 so far. The Panthers have won nine straight, most recently over MS Valley State. As for Alabama A&M, they’re 6-5 this year. Prairie View hit the skids in their first five games this season, stumbling to a 1-4 start. Since then it’s been nine straight wins for the Panthers, however. In their last three they’ve beaten Texas Southern, AR-Pine Bluff and MS Valley State.
In the win over the Delta Devils on Thursday, Prairie View’s Jawaun Daniels put up 20 points with 12 rebounds and one assist. Cam Mack added 13 points with six assists and two rebounds, and both Faite Williams and Boe Nguidjol had 11 points apiece.
Over on the Alabama A&M side, they went 4-0 in their first four games, but have hit a 2-5 stretch since then. The Bulldogs’ losses in that time came to Prairie View, Texas Southern, Alabama State, Alcorn State and Southern U.
In the 73-57 loss to Southern on Wednesday, Alabama A&M’s Jalen Johnson led the team on 19 points with five rebounds and three assists. Jevon Tatum added 17 points with three assists and two rebounds for the Bulldogs as well.
The Bulldogs are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. The Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and the under is 23-8 in their last 31 overall.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five as an underdog. Prairie View is 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 as a favorite and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Prairie View. The Panthers have been on a nice scoring run lately, with 72 or more points in each of their last seven games. The last time these teams met up on January 30, Prairie View notched a 79-57 victory. I like the Panthers to keep it going and bang out a cover in this one.
