The Kentucky Wildcats and the Alabama Crimson Tide meet Saturday in college basketball action from Coleman Coliseum. Kentucky is 18-4 so far this year. The Wildcats beat Vanderbilt in their last game. As for Alabama, they’re sitting at 14-8 and coming off a loss to Auburn. Kentucky has been very consistent this season and hasn’t yet lost consecutive games. The Wildcats are 3-1 over their last quartet. Since the loss to Auburn, Kentucky has taken out Mississippi State, Kansas and Vanderbilt in succession.
Matched up against Vanderbilt on Wednesday, the Wildcats posted a 41-31 advantage in the first half and cruised to the 77-70 win. Davion MIntz notched 21 bench points in the victory, and Oscar Tshiebwe put up 11 points with 17 rebounds.
Over on the Alabama side, they opened up the year on a 11-6 run with losses to Iona, Memphis, Davidson, Missouri, Auburn and Mississippi State. It’s been a 3-2 run over the last five games, including losses to Georgia and Auburn.
In the Auburn rematch back on Tuesday, the Tide coughed up 51 points in the first half and 49 more in the second during a 100-81 blowout loss. Jaden Shackelford led the Tide on 26 points with three rebounds and two assists. Jahvon Quinerly added 20 points as well.
The Tide are 1-7 ATS in their last eight at home and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games. The over is 5-1 in Alabama’s last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 road games and 1-4 ATS in the last five overall. The under is 5-1 in Kentucky’s last six road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Kentucky. The Wildcats shot a cold 38.6 percent from the field against Vanderbilt in their last game and were out-rebounded 37-30 but still found a way to win. Kentucky has scored well lately, with 71 or more points in seven of their last eight.
As for Alabama, they’ve had mixed results over some tough teams lately. The Tide have scored well themselves however, and I like them to really give Kentucky a push. Should be a fun game, and I like the Wildcats to eke out the cover.
