The South Florida Bulls and the Alabama Crimson Tide meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa. Here’s an Alabama vs South Florida prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Alabama vs South Florida pick.

South Florida Bulls Betting Preview

The Bulls kicked off their season on a 3-1 run with a loss to George Washington among wins over Florida A&M, Coppin State and Kennesaw State in that time. South Florida went 1-3 in the next four games though, beating Western Kentucky with losses otherwise versus Oklahoma State, VCU and Colorado State. Since then it’s been a pair of wins over Utah State and Charleston though, giving the Bulls a 6-4 overall record so far this year.

In the Charleston matchup last Wednesday, the Bulls came out of the gate with a 46-43 advantage in the first half. USF hit a 35-32 run from there in an 81-75 win. Leading the team in scoring was Joseph Pinion with 21 points, three rebounds and two assists. Izaiyah Nelson added 17 points with nine boards, as did Tristan Beckford over 28 minutes of work.

Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Preview

Over on the Alabama side, they opened the year on a 3-2 run with losses to Purdue and Gonzaga amid wins over North Dakota, St. John’s and Illinois. After four straight wins over UNLV, Maryland, Clemson and UTSA the Tide took a loss to Arizona over the weekend. Across 10 games so far that gives Alabama a 7-3 overall record in the books for this season.

Matched up against Arizona on Saturday the Tide entered the second half with a 41-39 lead. Alabama slowed down on a 57-34 deficit from there however and lost 96-75 in the end. Labaron Philon doubled up with 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists while Latrell Wrightsell had 21 points with three rebounds and two assists over 25 minutes of work on the floor.

Why the Alabama Crimson Tide will win

  • Alabama has won each of its last 20 games at Coleman Coliseum against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • South Florida has lost 24 of its last 25 night games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Alabama has won the first half in each of its last nine games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the South Florida Bulls will win

  • South Florida has won five of its last six night games.
  • Alabama has lost three of its last four games when playing with a rest disadvantage.
  • South Florida has won the first half in five of its last six night games.

Alabama vs South Florida Prediction

I’ll stay with Alabama. The Tide had a bad second half against a great Arizona team in their loss over the weekend, eventually shooting 44.6 percent from the field with a 48-30 rebounding deficit and 15 turnovers. Alabama was outscored 44-20 in the paint as well. Over their previous four games (all wins), the Tide had scored 90 or more points in every outing. Alabama has 90 or more points in all seven wins so far this year, in fact. If they can get back to that threshold here the Tide will be looking good cover-wise.

As for South Florida, they shot a tepid 40.6 percent from the field with 9-of-32 (28.1 percent) from outside in their win over Charleston. The Bulls were good on the boards (40) and had just nine turnovers, though. USF has 74 or more points in all six of their victories but they’ve also got some duds on the card in their losses.
