The Binghamton Bearcats will travel to SEFCU Arena to take on the Albany Great Danes this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Binghamton Bearcats won their 2nd straight game and improved to 4-6 on the season after defeating the UMass Lowell River Hawks, 68-63, this past Sunday. Binghamton was outstanding defensively against UMass Lowell and was able to pull away late after taking a 61-53 lead with 3:37 left in regulation. Binghamton shot 44.4% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc while holding UMass Lowell to 36.8% shooting from the field & 28.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bearcats was Jacob Falko who had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Binghamton is averaging 70.9 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field. The Bearcats are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Binghamton has been led by Tyler Bertram (10.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg), Kellen Amos (10.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.0 apg), Jacob Falko (8.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.2 apg), & George Tinsley (6.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.0 apg).

Defensively, Binghamton is allowing their opponents to average 67.8 ppg on 42.3% shooting from the field. The Bearcats have a rebound margin of 1.3 and a turnover margin of -0.8.

The Albany Great Danes improved to 4-8 on the season after defeating the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 68-52, on December 21st. Albany had no trouble shutting down the Lehigh offense and easily cruised to victory after going into halftime with a 36-12 lead. Albany shot 43.6% from the field & 45.5% from beyond the arc while holding Lehigh to just 38.8% shooting from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Great Danes was De’Vondre Perry who had 18 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks, & 2 steals.

On the season, Albany is averaging 58.7 ppg on 39.7% shooting from the field. The Great Danes are averaging 5.5 three-pointers per game on 29.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Albany has been led by De’Vondre Perry (13.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.5 spg), Matt Cerruti (9.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.3 spg), Jamel Horton (7.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.1 spg), & Justin Neely (6.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg).

Defensively, Albany is allowing their opponents to average 67.1 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field. The Great Danes have a rebound margin of -6.8 and a turnover margin of 0.1.

The Bearcats are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games, however, are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Great Danes are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Binghamton has been led by their defense which ranks 169th in scoring defense & 179th in scoring defense, and has been below average on the offensive end, ranking just 205th in scoring offense. Albany has been led by their defense which ranks 146th in scoring defense, however, the offense has really struggled this season and comes into this game ranked just 344th in scoring offense & 324th in FG%.

Albany has struggled on the offensive end this season, however, the Great Danes was playing well before their two week break as the Great Danes have won 3 of their last 4 games with impressive wins over Boston College & Lehigh. I’m a bit concerned that the Great Danes will struggle offensively in the 1st half, however, Binghamton is just 1-4 on the road this season, and as I think Albany’s defense will give the Bearcats trouble, I’m taking Albany do just enough to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
