The Vermont Catamounts will travel to SEFCU Arena to take on the Albany Great Danes this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Vermont Catamounts won their 13th straight game and improved to 19-4 on the season after defeating the Binghamton Bearcats, 82-51, this past Wednesday night. Vermont dominated Albany on both ends of the court throughout the game and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 35-20 lead. Vermont shot 56.4% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc while holding Binghamton to just 33.3% shooting from the field & 21.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Catamounts was Justin Mazzulla who had 13 points, 8 rebounds, & 1 assist.

On the season, Vermont is averaging 74.3 ppg on 49.6% shooting from the field. The Catamounts are averaging 8.7 three-pointers per game on 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Vermont has been led by Ryan Davis (17.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.4 apg), Ben Shungu (15.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Isaiah Powell (9.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.0 apg), & Finn Sullivan (7.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Vermont is holding their opponents to an average of 62.3 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Catamounts have a rebound margin of 5.0 and a turnover margin of 1.4.

The Albany Great Danes dropped to 10-14 on the season after being defeated by the Maine Black Bears, 73-63, this past Wednesday. Albany had no answers on the defensive end for Maine and could not fight back after the Black Bears took a 66-54 lead with 4:04 left in regulation. Albany shot 43.1% from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Maine to shoot 52.0% from the field & 59.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Great Danes was Matt Cerruti who had 14 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, & 1 block.

On the season, Albany is averaging 62.1 ppg on 41.2% shooting from the field. The Great Danes are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 31.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Albany has been led by De’Vondre Perry (12.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.5 spg), Jamel Horton (11.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.1 spg), Matt Cerruti (11.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.1 spg), & Jarvis Doles (6.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg). Albany won’t have their leading scorer in De’Vondre Perry who is out for the rest of the season due to an injury.

Defensively, Albany is holding their opponents to an average of 65.5 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Great Danes have a rebound margin of -1.8 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The Great Danes are 5-0 Ats in their last 5 games following a ATS loss & 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss. The Catamounts are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record, however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Saturday games.

Albany can really struggle on the offensive end as the Great Danes rank just 337th in scoring offense, however, Albany has been solid defensively this season, ranking 79th in scoring defense, and recently picked up an impressive 19-point road victory at Hartford. Vermont is once again the team to beat in the American East, however, the Catamounts had their hands full against Albany at home less than two weeks ago and as I think the Great Danes can keep this one somewhat competitive, I think they can do with the large number of points to get us a cover. Good Luck!
