The Trojans ended up losing by 16 points. As for Appalachian State, they played Arkansas State in their last game. In that one, the Mountaineers won by seven points. Little Rock started out the year well on a 3-0 run but it’s been choppy since then. The Trojans were on a 2-3 stretch heading into Thursday’s game. The losses were to Jacksonville State, UL Monroe and Texas State; the wins were over Georgia Southern and UT Arlington.

On Thursday, the Trojans played Coastal Carolina. In that one Little Rock scored just 16 points in the first half. The Trojans got better from there but still lost 65-49. Jordan Jefferson led the team with 18 points, and Nikola Maric had 13 points and nine boards.

Over on the App State side, they were 6-8 through their first 14 games this year. The Mountaineers hit their stride in the new calendar year, notching wins over UL Monroe, South Alabama, Coastal Carolina (twice) Georgia State and Georgia Southern.

Matched up against Arkansas State on Thursday, the Mountaineers were up 33-27 at halftime and managed to hang on for a 61-54 win. Both Michael Almonacy and Justin Forrest scored 13 points apiece, combining for eight rebounds as well.

The Mountaineers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven at home and 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. App State is 4-0 ATS in the last four overall.

Meanwhile, the Trojans are 8-21-1 ATS in their last 30 road games and 8-22-1 ATS in their last 31 overall. The under is 19-9-1 in Little Rock’s last 29 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Appalachian State. The Mountaineers haven’t been the most electric offensive team lately, but they’re getting the job done with defense. App State has allowed 62 points or fewer in four of their last five games and they’re riding a nice 7-1 streak right now. As for Little Rock, they’ve been below 60 points in two of their last three and I don’t think they’ve got the gas to power out a cover here.
