Arizona State vs Creighton 12/12/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Creighton Bluejays and the Arizona State Sun Devils meet Monday in college basketball action from Michelob ULTRA Arena. Creighton is 6-4 overall following a loss to BYU in their last game. Creighton hit a six-game win streak over St. Thomas MN, North Dakota, Holy Cross, UC Riverside, Texas Tech and Arkansas to start the year. Since then it’s been four straight losses to Arizona, Texas, Nebraska and BYU. 

On Saturday versus BYU, the Bluejays took a 49-45 deficit into the break. Creighton scored 35 more points in the second half but couldn’t catch up in an 83-80 loss. Tops in scoring was Arthur Kaluma with 27 points.

Over on the Arizona State side, their lone loss was to Texas Southern in mid-November. Otherwise it’s been wins over Tarleton State, Northern AZ, VCU, Michigan, Grambling State, Alcorn State, Colorado, Stanford and SMU. 

In the SMU matchup back on Wednesday, the Sun Devils trailed 33-28 by the break. Arizona State stormed back in the second half with a 47-24 run in a 75-57 win. DJ Horne set the pace with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Arizona State here. This should be a pretty great matchup regardless, though. The Sun Devils started out pretty slow in their last matchup versus SMU, but they closed strong with a great second half. Arizona State ended up shooting 43.5 percent from the floor with 41 rebounds and 18 assists in the win, and they’ve now scored 68 or more points in five of their last six games. 

As for Creighton, they’ve had some bad luck in a four-game gauntlet of tough teams lately. This matchup isn’t going to be any easier, but I expect it to be competitive. It’ll be a fun game to watch.
