The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Little Rock Trojans meet in college basketball action from the Jack Stephens Center on Friday night.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to build on a 74-69 win over Arkansas State on the road last time out. Vince Cole leads the Chanticleers in scoring with 15.2 PPG while Essam Mostafa has 13.4 PPG and a team-high 9.5 RPG to lead Coastal Carolina on the glass. Rudi Williams has 14.2 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Coastal Carolina so far this season. Ebrima Dibba has 7.5 PPG with 4.3 RPG and a team-high 5.6 APG as well so far this season. As a team, Coastal Carolina is averaging 73.3 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field, 36% from three and 70% from the foul line while allowing 65.5 PPG on 38.4% shooting from the field and 29.3% from three this season.
The Little Rock Trojans will try to snap a three-game losing skid after a 78-66 loss to App State last time out. Isaiah Palermo leads the Trojans in scoring with 11.7 PPG with 4.7 RPG while Nikola Maric has 13.9 PPG with 6.2 RPG and 2.8 APG in 12 games this season. DeAntoni Gordon has 10.4 PPG while Marko Lukic has 11.4 PPG as well this season. D.J. Smith also has 2.3 APG as well on the year. As a team, Little Rock is averaging 67 PPG on 41.9% shooting from the field, 32.5% from three and 73.8% from the foul line while allowing 73.6 PPG on 47.4% shooting from the field and 36.9% from three this season.
Coastal Carolina is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Little Rock is 5-21-2 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a losing record and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 Friday games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games against a team with a with a losing road record.
I get the case to be made for a home underdog in certain spots, but realistically, I want nothing to do with Little Rock up to this point in the season as the Trojans have had offensive issues and struggle to get to 60 points more often than not in their games this season. Coastal Carolina hasn’t been a world-beater, but they’re a solid team and a better alternative to a Trojans team that’s covered just 5 of their last 28 games against a team with a winning record. Give me Coastal Carolina on the road laying the points here.
