The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Arkansas State Red Wolves meet in college basketball action from the First National Bank Arena on Wednesday night.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to build some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last four games after a 73-63 win over Troy last time out. Vince Cole leads the Chanticleers in scoring with 15.5 PPG while Essam Mostafa has 13.6 PPG and a team-high 9.6 RPG to lead Coastal Carolina on the glass. Rudi Williams has 13.5 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Coastal Carolina so far this season. Ebrima Dibba has 7.5 PPG with 4.3 RPG and a team-high 5.7 APG and Garrick Green has 7.2 PPG and 5.4 RPG as well so far this season. As a team, Coastal Carolina is averaging 73.3 PPG on 45.3% shooting from the field, 36.1% from three and 69.7% from the foul line while allowing 65.3 PPG on 38.3% shooting from the field and 29.3% from three this season.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves will look to build on a 58-49 win over UT-Arlington in their last game. Norchad Omier leads the Red Wolves in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double per game with 17.2 PPG and 12 RPG while Desi Sills has 12.9 PPG with 3 APG and Marquis Eaton’s got 11.8 PPG with 3.4 APG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for A-State this season. Caleb Fields also has 7.4 PPG with a team-high 4.6 APG to lead the Red Wolves in assists this year. As a team, Arkansas State is averaging 71.2 PPG on 45.5% shooting from the field, 31.2% from three and 74.5% from the foul line while allowing 67.9 PPG on 42.6% shooting from the field and 32.8% from three this season.
Coastal Carolina is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 road games following three or more consecutive home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Arkansas State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games following three or more consecutive road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS win.
I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m leaning towards Coastal Carolina with the free bucket here. The underdog’s covered four straight and the road team’s covered in five straight, but aside from the trends standpoint, the Red Wolves have had a serious issue defensively in terms of keeping points off of the board and I think those problems will arise again. Give me the Chanticleers with the points in this one.
