Arkansas State vs Coastal Carolina Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/4/23

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Arkansas State Red Wolves meet Saturday in college basketball action from ASU Convocation Center. Coastal Carolina is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus LA-Monroe. In that one the Chanticleers lost by 13 points. As for Arkansas State, they played South Alabama in their last matchup. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 

Coastal Carolina went .500 over their first 16 games this year, going 8-8 overall to start. The Chanticleers hit a rough 2-4 stretch over their next six games, falling to Georgia State, Chicago State, James Madison and Old Dominion. 

On Thursday versus LA-Monroe, the Chanticleers were drilled 46-22 in the first half. Coastal Carolina got better from there on a 48-37 run but still lost 83-70. Kylan Blackmon was the leading team scorer on 15 points. 

Arkansas State Red Wolves 

Over on the Red Wolves’ side, they had a slightly better 16-game start at 9-7 overall. Arkansas State would then fall to Troy, Texas State, Southern Miss, Louisiana, Marshall, Southern Miss again and App State over the next seven games. 

In their Thursday game versus South Alabama, the Red Wolves trailed 44-30 at halftime. Arkansas State didn’t get any closer in the second half on a 38-32 deficit and lost 82-62. Terrance Ford was tops on 21 points and four assists. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Coastal Carolina. Probably also not touching this one. Neither team has played very well lately. Coastal is riding a rough four-game losing streak, but they’ve still hit 69 or more points in three of those games. As for Arkansas State, they’ve lost 10 in a row now. The Red Wolves have been at 62 points or fewer in three straight games. If Coastal Carolina plays to their capabilities they should be able to pull off a cover/win here but I’m not touching it.
