James Madison Dukes
The Dukes got off to a great 14-0 start this year, eventually taking their first loss to Southern Miss. It’s been a 6-2 run in the last eight games with wins over South Alabama, LA-Monroe, Marshall, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion again (with losses to App State twice).
In the rematch with Old Dominion on Saturday, the Dukes had a three-point deficit at halftime. James Madison pulled ahead with a 45-27 second half though, and took the win 78-63. Noah Freidel was the team’s leading scorer on 18 points with eight boards, and Raekwon Horton doubled with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Arkansas State Red Wolves
Over on the Red Wolves’ side, they started out on a pretty rough 4-9 run this year. Arkansas State is 6-4 since then though, taking wins over Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, Texas State (twice), Southern Miss and LA-Monroe. The losses otherwise were to Louisiana (twice), Southern Miss and LA-Monroe.
In their latest meeting with the Warhawks, Arkansas State got a little revenge at home. The Red Wolves stormed out to a 57-37 edge by the break, then coasted on 38 more points in a nice win 95-80. Caleb Fields was the top team scorer on 22 points and 13 assists for a double-double.
ANDREW’S FREE JAMES MADISON VS ARKANSAS STATE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with James Madison. The Dukes didn’t have too many issues versus Old Dominion—despite shooting just 17-of-27 (63 percent) from the line, that is. James Madison hit 48.2 percent from the floor with 33 rebounds and 17 team assists otherwise for their fifth victory in six games. Scoring has been on point in that half-dozen, with 67 or more points in each and 76 or more points in five of them.
As for Arkansas State, they’ve scored well lately themselves with 75 or more points in five straight games. The Red Wolves may even hang around initially in Wednesday’s matchup, as the home environment should be helpful. That said, I don’t think they’ll keep a cover pace if the Dukes are playing well.
