The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Auburn Tigers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Auburn Arena. Here’s an Auburn vs Vanderbilt prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Auburn vs Vanderbilt pick.

Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview

The Commodores got off to a great start this year, taking victories in each of their first 16 games out of the gate. Vanderbilt hit a 3-4 stretch in the next seven games, though. The losses in that time were versus Texas, Florida, Arkansas and Oklahoma. The victories otherwise came courtesy of Mississippi State, Kentucky and Ole Miss, giving the Tigers a 19-4 overall record.

In the Oklahoma matchup last weekend, the Commodores went into the second half with a 48-34 deficit. Vanderbilt came back from there and made a game of it on a 57-44 run but fell just short in a home loss 92-91 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Tyler Tanner with 37 points, nine assists and three rebounds. Tyler Nickel added 18 points in 36 minutes of work during the losing effort.

Auburn Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Auburn side, they held a shaky 10-7 record over their first 17 games this year. A four-game win streak started in mid-January though, as the Tigers took out South Carolina, Ole Miss, Florida and Texas. After that came a couple of losses for the Tigers as they dropped games versus Tennessee and Alabama. Over the first 23 games of the year that gives Auburn a 14-9 run.

In the Alabama matchup back on Saturday the Tigers were entering the second half with a four-point lead 41-37. Auburn was outpaced 59-51 the rest of the way however, resulting in a loss at home 96-92 in the end. Tahaad Pettiford led the way on 25 points with seven assists and three rebounds while Keyshawn Hall added 24 points with three rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes.

Auburn vs Vanderbilt Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Auburn I suppose. The Tigers need a good bounce-back here after a tough loss at home to rival Alabama, though. In that one the Tigers shot well (46.5 percent) and had a 30-26 rebounding edge with just five turnovers. The major trouble was the defense, as Auburn gave up 54.2 percent shooting from the field and 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from outside. The Tigers have lost consecutive games now, and they’ve given up 77 or more points in three straight.

As for Vanderbilt, they took a tough loss at home to a middling Oklahoma team last weekend. The Commodores put up 47.4 percent shooting from the field and 83.9 percent (26-of-31) from the line but also had 13 turnovers and a 40-30 deficit on points in the paint. Vanderbilt gave up 53.4 percent shooting on defense as well. The Commodores are still 3-1 in the last four games, though, with 80 or more points scored in three of those outings.
