Austin Peay vs Bellarmine Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/19/23

The Bellarmine Knights and the Austin Peay Governors meet Thursday in college basketball action from Dunn Center. Bellarmine is 8-11 so far this year. The Knights beat Florida Gulf Coast in their last outing. As for Austin Peay, they’re 8-11 as well following a loss to Lipscomb. Bellarmine Knights 

Bellarmine stood at 5-9 after 14 games. The Knights beat Louisville, CU Harrodsburg, Alice Lloyd, Wabash and Murray State in that time. The Knights are 3-2 since then with losses to Queens NC and Stetson. 

Back on Saturday versus Florida Gulf Coast, the Knights were up 40-21 going into the second half. Bellarmine kept the pace from there and won it 61-41. Ben Johnson was the high team scorer with 14 points and four assists. 

Austin Peay Governors 

Over on the Austin Peay side, they started the year at 6-8 with wins over Milligan, South Florida, Albany, Tennessee State, Kentucky Christian and Lindsey Wilson. The Governors are 2-3 since with wins over FGCU and Central Arkansas. 

In their matchup versus Lipscomb on Saturday, the Governors were drilled 45-29 in the first half. Austin Peay posted 43 points in the second half but still lost 86-72. Elijah Hutchins-Everett doubled on 20 points with 11 rebounds.

I’m going to take a stab on Bellarmine. The Knights have scored just 112 combined points over their last two outings however, so they’ll need to get the offense moving. That said, Bellarmine has put up 69 or more points in three of the last five games and should be able to keep the pace in this one. As for Austin Peay, they’ve been a mixed bag in the record column lately but they’re still scoring well with 72 or more points in three of their last five outings. I like this one to be a close matchup most of the way, with Bellarmine powering out a cover/win.
