Bowling Green went just 2-4 in their first six games, but have picked it up since then. The Falcons are currently riding a five-game win streak over Chicago State, Duquesne, Oakland, Robert Morris and Carlow.
In the Carlow game, Bowling Green posted a crazy 76 points in the first half alone. The Falcons would end up cruising to a 129-50 blowout win. Isaac Elsasser led the team with 20 points, and Trey Diggs added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Over on the Ball State side, they got off to a 3-5 start this year with wins over Omaha, UMass and Indiana State. Since then it’s been a 2-1 run with a loss to Illinois State in between wins over IU Kokomo and Eastern Illinois.
Matched up against Eastern Illinois on December 21, the Cardinals outscored the Panthers 38-19 in the second half on the way to a 75-55 win. Payton Sparks led the team with his 16 points and eight rebounds.
Ball State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. The over is 7-3 in the Cardinals’ last 10 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Falcons are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games after three or more straight home games. The over is 6-2 in Bowling Green’s last eight overall and 5-1 in the last six versus a team with a losing straight-up record.
PICK: I’m staying with Bowling Green. The Falcons have looked pretty good during this five-game win streak, scoring 73 or more points in each—plus a combined 229 in their last pair alone. As for Ball State, they can score pretty well when the matchup is right, but it’s tough telling if they’ll be able to keep up in any capacity here. Ultimately I think this is probably Bowling Green’s cover to take.
