Ball State vs Buffalo Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/24/23

Buffalo Bulls

Buffalo lost to James Madison, UConn, Drake, Howard, Tulane, West Virginia and Michigan State in their first 14 games. the Bulls have since gone 2-3 with losses to Miami-OH, Central Michigan and Toledo. 

In the Toledo game back on Friday, the Bulls were down 46-39 going into the second half. Buffalo posted a 40-38 deficit from there and lost 86-77. LaQuill Hardnett managed to double up with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the defeat. 

Ball State Cardinals

Over on the Ball State side, they fell to Indiana State, Vermont, San Jose State and Duquesne in their first 14 games to start out 10-4. The Cardinals are 3-2 in their last five outings with wins over Akron, Miami-OH and Western Michigan. 

On Friday versus Kent State, Ball State was drilled 45-28 in the first half. The Cardinals didn’t end up getting closer on a 41-37 second half and an 86-65 loss. Both Jaylin Sellers and Basheer Jihad scored 11 points each.

I’ll probably stick with Ball State. The Cardinals really need a good showing here in order to bounce back from a listless loss to Kent State on Friday, however. That said, Ball State can score. They’d hit 70 or more points in six straight games prior to that defeat and should post a good total here as well. As for Buffalo, they’ve hit 75 or more points in six straight games so this one could turn into a shootout quickly. Overall I like Ball State cover-wise a little better, though.
