Kent State’s season began on a pretty solid 16-4 run through their first 20 games. The Flashes are 6-1 since then with wins over Buffalo, Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Buffalo again, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan in that time.
In the Eastern Michigan game back on Friday, the Flashes managed a 41-25 edge going into the second half. The Flashes hit a 40-29 run from there and won easily 81-54. Sincere Carry was tops on the team with 17 points and six assists.
Ball State Cardinals
Over on the Ball State side, they were 13-7 through their first 20 games of the season. The Cardinals would then beat Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Bowling Green again and Northern Illinois before a loss to Western Michigan.
In the Western Michigan game, the Cardinals took a 36-29 deficit into the break. Ball State didn’t get any closer on a 42-39 second half and lost 78-68. Jaylin Sellers was the top team scorer with 22 points and five rebounds.

I’ll stick with Ball State in this one. Should be a fun matchup regardless, though. The Cardinals didn’t play their best basketball on Saturday in the Western Michigan loss, and Ball State fell to a team they probably should have handled easily. That said, the Cardinals are still on a 6-1 run with 68 or more points in six of the seven outings. Kent State didn’t have too much trouble the last time these teams met up back on January 20. The Flashes took a dominant 86-65 win at Kent State Mac Center in that one, thanks to a nice 45-28 start in the first half. I like Ball State to play better at home in the rematch and get a bit of revenge.
