The Creighton Bluejays and the Baylor Bears meet Sunday in NCAA Tournament Second Round action from Pepsi Center. Creighton comes into this one at 22-12 on the year. The Bluejays beat NC State in their First Round matchup on Friday. As for Baylor, they’re currently 23-10 overall and fresh off a tournament win over UC Santa Barbara on Friday. Creighton Bluejays

Creighton put up a 20-11 campaign during the regular season. The Bluejays finished with wins over Georgetown and DePaul, then took out Villanova in their first game of the Big East Tournament. Creighton took a loss to Xavier 82-60 in the next installment however.

In the Friday tournament matchup versus NC State, Creighton held a 28-26 halftime lead. The Bluejays hit a 44-37 stretch in the second and powered out the victory 72-63. Ryan Kalkbrenner was tops on 31 points with seven rebounds.

Baylor Bears

Over on the Baylor side, they got out of the regular season with a 22-9 record overall. The Bears went 2-1 over the last three games, falling to Iowa State 73-58 in the finale. Baylor took an early exit in the Big 12 Tournament as well, losing to Iowa State again 78-72.

Matched up against UC Santa Barbara on Friday, the Bears were trailing 36-35 going into the second half. Baylor woke up on a 39-20 run from there and got the win 74-56. Leading team scorer Adam Flagler posted 18 points with five rebounds.

I might take a stab on Creighton. You could obviously make a great case either way here, though. It should be one of the highlights of the Second Round. The Bluejays had a nice offensive day in their matchup versus NC State with 46.4 percent shooting and 89.5 percent from the line. Creighton couldn’t connect from outside (3-of-20) but it didn’t end up making a difference. The Bluejays have now scored 72 or more points in four of their last five outings. As for Baylor, they had a rough first half in the UC Santa Barbara team on Friday, but to their credit the Bears cleaned it up. Baylor ended up shooting 54.9 percent from the field in that one with a 29-23 rebounding advantage. The Bears have 72 or more points in four of their last five games but I don’t know if they’ll keep a cover/win pace in this one. Should be an interesting matchup.
