The Texas Longhorns and the Baylor Bears meet Monday in college basketball action from Foster Pavilion. Texas is 19-10 overall after a win versus Oklahoma State. As for Baylor, they’re 21-8 following a victory over Kansas this past weekend. Let’s get into our Texas vs. Baylor prediction. Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns last took consecutive losses to finish off January, falling to BYU and Houston. Since then Texas is 5-3 with wins over TCU, West Virginia, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. The losses otherwise were to Iowa State, Houston and Kansas in that time.

In the Oklahoma State matchup on Saturday, the Longhorns were up 45-36 by the break. Texas kept it up in the second half with a 36-29 run and took the eventual victory 81-65. Dylan Disu was the top scorer with his 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in 32 minutes of work.

Baylor Bears

Over on the Baylor side, they were sitting at 14-5 in late January. The Bears would win five of the next six over UCF, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and West Virginia, though. Since then it’s been losses to BYU and Houston followed by wins versus TCU and Kansas over the last four.

In the Kansas game over the weekend, the Bears held a slim 35-34 edge in the locker room. Baylor finished off on a 47-40 run the rest of the way and took the victory 82-74. RayJ Dennis was the top team scorer with 19 points and 10 assists, while Jayden Nunn added 18 points.

ANDREW’S FREE TEXAS VS BAYLOR PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Baylor, but you could make a case either way. This should be a pretty tight matchup. The Bears are riding high after a nice win over Kansas, featuring 55.6 percent shooting from the field and 31 rebounds. Baylor gave up 55.2 percent shooting on the other side but played well enough on offense to keep the Jayhawks at bay. That makes 71 or more points in five of the last six games for Baylor.

The Bears took a 75-73 road loss the last time these teams met up back on January 20. In that one Texas shot a nice 51.9 percent from the field and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from 3-point range. This one should be close the whole way as well, and I like Baylor to get some revenge at home. Should be a fun one regardless.
