Central AR managed just one win over Oral Roberts in their first 10 games, skidding to a 1-9 start. In the last five however, the Bears have gone 4-1 with victories versus Hendrix, Champion Christian, Eastern Kentucky and Lipscomb.
In the Lipscomb game, the Bears scored 46 points in the first half and 47 more from there in a 93-88 win. Central Arkansas’ leading scorers were Camren Hunter and Eddy Kayouloud, each with 18 points and a combined four assists.
Over on the Bellarmine side, they lost their first five games this year. The Knights then hit a 5-1 stretch with wins over Central Michigan, Franklin, Defiance, Asbury and Midway. Bellarmine is 2-2 in their last four, taking wins over Miami-OH and Eastern Kentucky.
Matched up against Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, the Knights took a 41-29 lead into halftime. Bellarmine was able to hold on in a 66-61 win. Alec Pfriem led the team on 23 points and nine rebounds, while CJ Fleming added 22 points in 37 minutes.
The Knights are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win and 0-5 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. Bellarmine is 0-4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 1-8 ATS in their last nine after an ATS win and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games. Central AR is 1-5 ATS in their last six Tuesday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Central Arkansas here. The Bears are playing pretty well over their last five outings, and they’ve hit 79 or more points in four of those games. If Central AR can keep the scoring run going in this one, they’ll be in good shape.
As for Bellarmine, they’ve played better lately as well but they’ve also been buoyed by some relatively easy matchups. I think the Knights can keep the pace for a while but it looks to me like the Bears’ cover.
