Bethune-Cookman vs Alabama A&M Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/30/23

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats meet Monday in college basketball action from Moore Gym. Alabama A&M is currently 8-13 on the year. The Bulldogs beat Florida A&M in their last game. As for Bethune-Cookman, they’re 7-14 overall folioing a win over Alabama State. Alabama A&M Bulldogs

Alabama A&M went just 6-10 to start out the year, beating UT Southern, Fisk, Lipscomb, Rust, AR-Pine Bluff and MS Valley State. The Bulldogs are 2-3 since then with wins over Prairie View A&M and Florida A&M in their last pair. 

In the Florida A&M matchup on Saturday, the Bulldogs hit a 32-26 run in the first half. Alabama A&M was outscored 30-29 from there but held on for the 61-56 win. Leading team scorer Olisa Akonobi put up 17 points and seven rebounds. 

Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 

Over on the Bethune-Cookman side, they started out at 5-11 with wins over Florida National, Trinity Baptist, Idaho State, Chicago State and Florida A&M. The Wildcats are 2-3 in their last five as well with wins over MS Valley State and Alabama State. 

Matched up against the Hornets on Saturday, the Wildcats went into the break with a 34-24 lead. Bethune-Cookman had to rally to hang on but eventually emerged with a 64-62 win. Marcus Garrett topped the team on 19 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with Bethune-Cookman. Granted, there’s not a lot of intrigue involved in a game between teams with a combined 15 wins, but it should be a competitive matchup. The Wildcats have scored 66 or more points in seven of their last eight games (64 in the outlier) and should be able to set the pace in this one. As for Alabama A&M, they’ll be able to hang around if they can keep the score low. That said if Bethune-Cookman gets into a good offensive rhythm I don’t think the Bulldogs will keep up.
