New Mexico Lobos
New Mexico stormed out to a nice 18-2 run over their first 20 games this year. The Lobos are just 2-5 in their last seven, however. They’ve lost to Nevada, Utah State, Nevada again, Air Force and Wyoming with wins over Air Force and San Jose State otherwise in that time.
On Friday versus San Jose State, New Mexico jumped out to a 50-31 halftime edge. The Lobos kept it up with a 46-37 second half and won 96-68. Morris Udeze doubled on 31 points and 12 rebounds, and Jamal Mashburn Jr. posted 27 points.
Boise State Broncos
Over on the Boise State side, they went 15-5 across their first 20 outings this season. The Broncos are a nice 6-1 in their last seven games with wins over Fresno State, Colorado State, Air Force, Wyoming, Colorado State again and UNLV.
Back on Sunday in the UNLV game, the Broncos were up 38-32 going into the locker room. Boise State was outscored 37-35 from there but held on for the 73-69 win. Marcus Shaver was tops on the team with 19 points and five rebounds.

I’m going to try Boise State here. You could make a case either way, though; we should have a pretty solid matchup on our hands. The Broncos are playing very good basketball over this 6-1 stretch, and they’ve hit 73 or more points in three straight outings. New Mexico has been a little shaky in the win column but they’re still scoring well. The Lobos took an 81-79 overtime win the last time these teams saw each other back on January 20 at the Pit. I like Boise State to get some revenge and power out a home cover of their own in the rematch. Should be a fun one to watch.
