The New Mexico Lobos and the Boise State Broncos meet Tuesday in college basketball action from ExtraMile Arena in Boise. Here’s a Boise State vs New Mexico prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Boise State vs New Mexico pick.

New Mexico Lobos Betting Preview

The Lobos opened the year with three straight wins, then took a couple of consecutive losses to New Mexico State and Nebraska from there. New Mexico has since won seven straight, taking out Mississippi State, Alabama State, New Mexico Highlands, Santa Clara, VCU, Florida Gulf Coast and San Jose State in that time. That makes for a 10-2 overall record across 12 games so far.

In the San Jose State game on December 20, the Lobos entered the second half with a 41-28 edge. New Mexico closed with 47 more points on the way to an 88-65 win in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Milos Vicentic with 19 points and four boards. Jake Hall added 18 points with three rebounds and JT Rock had 11 points with five boards in the winning effort.

Boise State Broncos Betting Preview

Over on the Boise State side, they won four of their first five games over Utah Valley, TX-Rio Grande Valley, Montana State and Wichita State before losses to USC and NC State. After wins over Chaminade, Butler, Duquesne and Saint Mary’s in the next four, the Broncos took a loss to Nevada. That gives Boise State an 8-4 overall record in their first 12 games of the season so far.

In the Nevada game on December 20, the Broncos were in the locker room with a 36-26 deficit. Boise State didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 45-40 run and took the loss 81-66. Andrew Meadow put up 16 points to lead the team and Dominic Parolin doubled on 13 points with 10 rebounds. Spencer Ahrens added 11 points with two rebounds and two assists as well.

Boise State vs New Mexico Prediction

I’ll stay with New Mexico. The Lobos didn’t have too many issues with San Jose State in their last game, hitting 57.4 percent from the field with 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) from the line and just eight turnovers. New Mexico had a 36-20 edge in the paint and 18 team assists as well. The Lobos are scoring great during this seven-game win streak; they’ve hit 75 or more points in every game and 80 or more in six of them.

As for Boise State, they couldn’t topple a good Nevada team at Lawlor Events Center in their last outing, despite shooting a decent 44.4 percent with a 26-22 rebounding edge. The Broncos missed a few free throws (19-of-31 for 61.3 percent) and had 13 turnovers while giving up 55.6 percent shooting on defense. That makes fewer than 69 points in consecutive games now, but Boise State had been scoring well prior to that.
