Boise State vs San Diego State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/28/23

San Diego State Aztecs

San Diego State managed a 16-4 record to start off the year through 20 games. The Aztecs are a nice 7-1 since then with wins over San Jose State, Boise State, Utah State, UNLV, Fresno State, Colorado State and New Mexico in that time. 

In the New Mexico matchup on Saturday, the Aztecs were down 37-27 by halftime. San Diego State rallied on a 46-34 second-half run and took the comeback win 73-71. Darrion Trammell led the way on 18 points with three assists. 

Boise State Broncos 

Over on the Boise State side, they were 17-5 in their first 22 outings this year. The Broncos have since gone a decent 5-2 with wins over Air Force, Wyoming, Colorado State, UNLV and New Mexico alongside losses to San Diego State and San Jose State. 

Matched up against San Jose State on Saturday, the Broncos scored 31 points in the first half, 27 in the second and 10 in overtime on the way to a 74-68 defeat. Leading team scorer Chibuzo Agbo posted 17 points with two rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with San Diego State here. You could make a case either way, however. The Aztecs are coming off a close win over a good New Mexico team and they’re sitting on a six-game win streak. One of those wins came versus Boise State back on February 3 at Viejas Arena. That game was a 72-52 finish for the Aztecs following a 43-21 advantage in the first half. This one probably won’t be so lopsided, and I like Boise State to put up a good fight at home. Should be a fun one, but I like the Aztecs slightly better on a potential cover/win.
