The Utah Valley Wolverines and the Boise State Broncos meet Friday in college basketball action from ExtraMile Arena. Utah Valley has dropped three straight games, falling to .500 overall after a loss to Liberty last week. As for Boise State, they’re 8-4 this year after falling to Washington State in their most recent outing. Let’s get into our Utah Valley vs. Boise State prediction. Utah Valley Wolverines
The Wolverines managed a decent 6-3 run over their first nine games this year, taking wins over Carroll MT, Sam Houston, Southern Miss, Western Colorado, Seattle and Weber State in that time. The next three games were all losses however, as Utah Valley fell to Oregon State, Utah and Liberty.
In the Liberty game last Wednesday, the Wolverines faced a 46-34 deficit by halftime. Utah Valley scored a tepid 29 points in the second half and ended up falling 79-63. Osiris Grady was the team’s leading scorer on 16 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Boise State Broncos
Over on the Broncos’ side, they didn’t start out so great on a 3-3 run through six games. Boise State took losses to Clemson, Virginia Tech and Butler during that time. The Broncos would then hit a win streak over Saint Mary’s, North Texas, Western Oregon, Northwestern State and CSU Fullerton in the next quintet.
Boise State fell back into the loss column in their last matchup versus Washington State. The Broncos were down 33-27 by the break and lost 66-61 despite getting better from there. O’Mar Stanley was tops on 23 points and six boards, while Tyson Degenhart doubled up on 12 points and 10 boards.
ANDREW’S FREE UTAH VALLEY VS BOISE STATE PREDICTION
I’ll probably just stay with Boise State here. The Broncos didn’t play especially well versus a pretty tough Washington State team in their last outing, shooting just 35.9 percent from the field and 25 percent (5-of-20) from outside. Boise State wasn’t too bad on the boards (37) in that loss though, and only had seven turnovers. In five of the last six games, the Broncos have given up 66 points or fewer. That means Utah Valley will probably have some issues scoring. The Wolverines have been at 63 or fewer points in three of their last five outings, so I don’t think Utah Valley will quite reach cover territory.
