The Dartmouth Big Green and the Boston College Eagles meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Silvio O. Conte Forum. It’s been a long while since Dartmouth has seen any significant on-court action with the Ivy League halting play last year. As for Boston College, they’re coming off a forgettable season, going just 4-16 overall. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Dartmouth was most recently on the court for the 2019-20 season, where the team went 12-17 overall and 5-9 in Ivy League play. That result left the Green just two spots out of the basement in the conference standings, ahead of only Cornell and Columbia.

The Green showed some spark at the end of the 2019-20 year, winning five of six games in February. Dartmouth ultimately lost their last pair of regular-season games to Yale and Brown, and failed to qualify for the Ivy League Tournament (which was ultimately cancelled anyway).

Over on the Boston College side, the 2020-21 campaign was one to forget. The Eagles posted a 4-16 overall record and a 2-11 finish in ACC play. Boston College landed squarely in last place in the conference standings with that effort.

Boston College played just three games between January 16 and February 27 due to postponements; that certainly didn’t help the team’s rhythm. Ultimately the Eagles matched up against Duke in the First Round of the ACC Tournament, losing 86-51 to cap the season.

The Green are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games and the over is 3-0-1 in their last four overall. The over is 4-0 in Dartmouth’s last four road games as well.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight overall and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 at home. The over is 4-1 in Boston College’s last five Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Boston College here, but probably staying away. By most indications, the Eagles won’t be very good this season. With Earl Grant in the head coaching role, Boston College is likely going to slow down their pace of play. That means an extra emphasis on defense, and that could spell trouble against some of the tougher ACC teams. Still, the Eagles have a solid-looking backcourt trio of Brevin Galloway, DeMarr Langford and Makai Ashton-Langford. Those three should keep the Eagles as competitive as they can be.
