Holy Cross Crusaders
The Crusaders have just the two wins so far this year, taking out Georgetown 68-67 and IUPUI 74-61. Outside of that, Holy Cross lost to Siena, Sacred Heart, Winthrop, Elon, St. John’s and Maine in their first eight games. In the loss to the Black Bears 72-57, the Crusaders hit just 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from outside.
Holy Cross’ losing streak continued in their latest matchup versus Central Connecticut. In that one the Crusaders were down 36-28 by the break and didn’t end up getting closer in a 78-67 finish. Tops in scoring was Joe Octave with 24 points and six rebounds. Caleb Kenney added 11 rebounds and eight points. The Crusaders are 2-7 in the Patriot Conference with the same record as Army and the same number of wins as Navy.
Boston College Eagles
Over on the Boston College side, they were able to win their first four games of the year over Fairfield, the Citadel, Richmond and Harvard. The Eagles would lose three of the next four games however, dropping to Colorado State, Loyola Chicago and NC State. In the overtime loss to the Wolfpack, Boston College went 14-of-26 (53.8 percent) from the line.
The Eagles didn’t have much issue with Central Connecticut in their last outing. Boston College jumped out to a 49-23 edge by the break and ended up with an 82-68 victory. Donald Hand led the team off the bench with his 16 points, three rebounds and two steals.
ANDREW’S FREE HOLY CROSS VS BOSTON COLLEGE PREDICTION
I’ll stick with Boston College. The line’s probably too thick to mess with, though. The Eagles haven’t exactly been consistent this year, but they should be in full control on Friday. In their latest win over Central Connecticut, Boston College hit 50 percent from the field and a much better 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the line. That makes 68 or more points in every game so far for the Eagles.
As for Holy Cross, they shot a tepid 37.5 percent in their matchup versus Central Connecticut. The Crusaders haven’t reached 70 points in any of their last five losses and I don’t think they’ll reach that threshold here either.
