The North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Boston College Eagles meet Saturday in college basketball action from Conte Forum. NC State is 4-2 overall and sitting on consecutive losses, most recently versus Ole Miss. As for Boston College, they improved to 5-2 on the season with a win over Vanderbilt in their last game. Let’s get into our NC State vs. Boston College prediction.
NC State Wolfpack
North Carolina State got off to a great 4-0 start this year. The wins in that time came over the Citadel, Abilene Christian, Charleston Southern, and Vanderbilt in succession. The Wolfpack took their first loss to BYU in game five however, giving up 56.7 percent from the field to the Cougars alongside a 40-29 rebounding deficit.
The Wolfpack’s woes continued in their latest matchup versus Ole Miss. NC State was down 35-27 by the break and scored just 25 more points from there in a 72-52 defeat. Ben Middlebrooks came off the bench to post a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
Boston College Eagles
Over on the Eagles’ side, they also kicked off the year with four straight wins. Theirs came versus Fairfield, the Citadel, Richmond, and Harvard. Boston College would similarly drop their next two games to Colorado State and Loyola. Matched up against the Ramblers, the Eagles shot just 17.4 percent (4-of-23) from 3-point range in a 71-68 defeat.
The good news is that Boston College got back into the win column in their last game versus Vanderbilt. After a 44-23 edge in the first half, the Eagles cruised from there in an 80-62 result. Quinten Post topped the team with 24 points and seven rebounds, while Claudell Harris added 22 points with five boards.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE VS BOSTON COLLEGE PREDICTION
I’ll just stay with Boston College. An NC State pick isn’t crazy here, though; we should have a fun matchup overall. The Eagles are coming off a solid outing in their win over Vanderbilt, posting 51.8 percent from the field and 50 percent (10-of-20) from 3-point range. The rebounding (35) and assists (15) weren’t terrible in that one either. Boston College has now scored 68 or more points in all seven games so far.
As for NC State, they ran into a tough Ole Miss team in their last outing but they’d scored 72 or more points in five straight games prior to that. I like the Wolfpack to really give Boston College a challenge on Saturday in an eventual Eagles cover. It’ll be a fun one regardless.
