The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Boston College Eagles meet Friday in college basketball action from Conte Forum. Notre Dame is 1-3 in their last four games and fresh off a loss to Illinois. As for the Eagles, they’re 5-3 so far. Boston College beat USF in their last outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Notre Dame started out on a decent 3-1 run this year with a loss to Saint Mary’s mixed in with wins over CSU Northridge, High Point and Chaminade. Since then it’s been losses to Texas A&M and Illinois for the Irish.

In the Illinois loss, Notre Dame gave up 41 points in each half on the way to an 82-71 defeat. Blake Wesley led the team with 24 points and three rebounds, while Dane Goodman had 15 points with five boards.

Over on the Boston College side, their year began with wins over Dartmouth, Holy Cross and Fairfield. After losses to Rhode Island (twice) and Utah, the Eagles beat Columbia and South Florida in their last pair.

In the USF game, the Eagles held the Bulls to just 24 points in the first and 25 more from there during a 64-49 defeat. James Karnik led the way on 12 points with seven rebounds, and Quinten Post added 11 points with four boards.

Boston College is 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall. The over is 6-0 in the Eagles’ last six after an ATS win.

Meanwhile, the Irish are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight Friday games. The over is 8-3 in Notre Dame’s last 11 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Notre Dame. The Irish didn’t have too bad of a game in the Illinois loss—they simply couldn’t keep up with a hot-shooting Illini squad. Notre Dame shot 45.9 percent themselves with 29 rebounds 10 assists and a modest eight turnovers in that one, but the team has scored more than 72 points in a game just once this year.

As for the Eagles, they shot a solid 44.4 percent against USF but were out-rebounded 41-32 in their victory. This one’s got the makings of a lower-scoring game, but I think Notre Dame can eke out a cover.
